Challenge
JobsOhio, a statewide economic development network, was overwhelmed by ad-hoc analytics requests and fragmented data:
• Data siloed across multiple systems (CRM, data warehouse, marketing, analytics)
• Overwhelming volume of ad-hoc reporting requests flooding the analytics team
• 25% of analytics team’s time consumed by manual reporting and data compilation
• Slow business intelligence turnaround (days to weeks for basic insights)
• Limited visibility into key economic and investment metrics
• Inconsistent data definitions and lack of governance creating confusion
• No self-service capability — all reporting required analyst intervention
Approach
Designed and delivered a secure, self-service enterprise data platform to eliminate analyst bottlenecks and empower stakeholders:
• Conducted comprehensive stakeholder interviews to identify key metrics and KPIs
• Designed governed data architecture using Snowflake with automated ELT/ETL pipelines and reverse ETL
• Built 27 executive dashboards covering portfolio performance, regional economic trends, investment and grant performance, and stakeholder engagement analytics
• Implemented enterprise-grade security framework with Okta SSO and RBAC
• Delivered secure self-service Tableau BI platform
• Trained 30+ staff on dashboard navigation, analytics, and data literacy
• Established data governance framework with clear definitions and ownership
